Annual Frank J. Bartell III Lecture: New Challenges, New Opportunities: Peace and Potential in Life's Last Chapter

Award-winning national journalist, Steven Kiernan, author of the book, "Last Rights: Rescuing the End of Life from the Medical System," will share hopeful stories of individuals who lived fully right to the last minute. He'll show how patients and their families can regain control of the dying process and create profound family intimacy at the end of life.

Safe Sitter

This one-day course teaches 11- to 13-year-olds the basics of babysitting. Subjects include child development, first aid and injury management, and choking rescue for infants and children. Lunch and snacks are provided.

Shots 4 Tots

This program provides immunizations for area children. The MMR booster shot for seventh graders also is available. No appointments are necessary. There is a $5 administrative charge per injection. Some insurance billing is provided by the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department (TLCHD). Contact TLCHD at 419-213-4121 to answer questions regarding insurance billing or for more information.

Tobacco Cessation: My Path to a Tobacco-Free Future

In this four-week program created by the Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependency Center, you'll design a personal plan to help you through the process of quitting tobacco use. In a group setting, you'll learn why quitting tobacco is hard to do and why it's a physical challenge; understand cravings, the signs of addiction, the emotional aspects of tobacco use and how medicine can help; and find tips and resources to maintain your tobacco-free life.

Tobacco Cessation: Personalized Tobacco Treatment

During one-on-one sessions, you and your tobacco treatment specialist will put together a plan to help you quit tobacco use. Your treatment will include counseling and information about medicines that ease withdrawal from nicotine.

Treating Chronic Back Pain

You feel like you've tried it all -- lots of testing, different medications, physical therapy and pain management. But, you're still coping with chronic back pain. What next? Attend this community program to learn about surgical treatments that might help, including artificial disk replacement, emerging treatments for disk regeneration and balloon kyphoplasty.

Diabetes Care Center Grand Opening

Individual and Group Diabetes Education

A certified diabetic dietitian and certified diabetes nurse educator help patients with diabetes learn the skills they need to manage their disease. Topics include nutrition, weight loss, exercise, medication and using a blood sugar monitor.
