The Heart Center at St. Luke's Hospital is the area's newest comprehensive cardiac diagnostic and treatment facility. Located within St. Luke's Hospital and just down the hallway from Emergency Services, the Heart Center offers the most sophisticated technology and procedures for cardiac care.

Heart CenterThe Heart Center facilitates low- and high-risk cardiac catheterizations, as well as elective and emergent angioplasty and interventional procedures. Physicians perform open-heart surgery for coronary artery bypass or valve repair. Patients undergoing high-risk catheterizations may proceed directly to cardiac surgery, if necessary.

The Heart Center also facilitates an innovative procedure called off-pump coronary artery bypass procedure (OPCAB), during which the cardiac surgeon performs a bypass procedure on a still-beating heart. With conventional bypass surgery, the heart is stopped and the patient's blood goes through a heart-lung machine.

Our continuum of cardiac care doesn't end with a successful bypass or angioplasty procedure. St. Luke's offers a cardiac rehabilitation program for patients with heart conditions. This program features a combination of education, structured exercise and careful cardiac monitoring to help strengthen the heart.
