Press Releases

[Maumee, OH]: Press Ganey, the nation’s leader in understanding and improving the patient experience, announced its awards for high performance hospitals in 2016. St. Luke’s Hospital received the “Guardian of Excellence” for Physician Engagement.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors hospitals who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.

“Press Ganey collects data from over 26,000 hospitals, so no other independent entity has a better handle on who is excelling,” said Stephen Bazely, M.D., Vice President Medical Affairs at St. Luke’s Hospital. “St. Luke’s is committed to being a place where physicians can practice their best medicine and everyone—from the CEO on down—is committed to this goal. We believe the patient sees this and appreciates it.”

Physician engagement is an increasing issue in healthcare around the country. For example, a study by Athena Health noted that nearly half of physicians reported burnout in 2015.

“We’re pleased to be recognized for our physician engagement,” said Dan Wakeman, President and CEO of St. Luke’s. “When they are engaged, our patients benefit the most.”
